A new wine on the rise

We have spoken before about the coastal Malbec of Finca Rotondo, a wine made from grapes harvested in vineyards located near the coastline, at Chincha valley, south of Peru. The Finca Rotondo Malbec Reserva is a clear example ofthe quality wines can achieve in this terroir. Today, a new wine is rising expectant commentaries, the Finca Rotondo Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva. Awarded with Gold and Silver Medals at the Peruvian Wine Contest and Citadelles du Vin 2021 Contest in France. Produced with grapes grown in this same valley, the Cabernet Reserva wine is both attractive and surprising at eyes of consumers and connoisseurs. It is surprising because since very different from the South American Cabernets we are used to taste, mainly from those from Chile, usually very robust wines, with powerful tannins. Wines that generally best consume with meals. The Finca Rotondo Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva in contrast has a friendly personality that allows be enjoyed at all times, which is excellent news for those who like me that loves Cabernet but prefer less powerful alternatives. This is mainly highlighted on the mouthfeel, where we find round and soft tannins, a present but friendly character. Its aromas the reflects the variety, with elegance reminiscent of red and black fruits, pepper and spices. Also appear those notes typical of its aging in barrels such as vanilla and bitter chocolate. A wine to enjoy.
